Anjali and Matt’s Death Valley engagement photos at Badwater Basin were magical! They met on Bumble right before the pandemic and got engaged after 2.5 years of dating. Though they live in Texas, they love the West Coast and Southern California. Taking engagement photos at Death Valley was always a dream for Anjali. After she and Matt got engaged, they planned a trip to California with an engagement session at Death Valley.
As a photographer, I love Death Valley because there is such variety in the scenery and so many different location options. The neutral colors and open space make Death Valley a blank canvas. You can really have fun with outfits, props, and whatever vision you have in mind for your engagement photos!
For Anjali and Matt, they had a dressy and a casual look for their photos. Anjali’s white floral dress with the pearl accented sleeves next to Matt in his neutral suit looked stunning with the salt flats landscape! Anjali also brought a gorgeous bouquet of dried flowers and a blanket for them to sit on.
Death Valley National Park is about a 2.5-hour drive from Las Vegas and right across the eastern border of California. It holds the record for the HOTTEST place on Earth, so if you’re thinking of an engagement session or elopement at Death Valley then I highly recommend planning for the months of October-April. It’s a location that you need to be prepared for!
Locations for an Engagement Session at Death Valley:
You can’t go wrong with any of the spots in Death Valley for photos. They all have features that make them unique like the rainbow colored hills of Artist’s Palette or the iconic views from Zabriskie Point. Below are 5 different locations to look into when planning a session at Death Valley.
A crazy fact about Badwater Basin is that it’s the lowest point of elevation in North America and sits at 282 ft below sea level. Anjali and Matt’s engagement photos at Badwater Basin were incredible because they remind me a lot of the Salt Flats in Utah. So if you want a salt flat look for your engagement session, then keep Badwater Basin in mind!
