A wedding album is one of the best ways to display your wedding photos! In today’s world it’s so easy to put off ordering one. Your photos often stay stuck on a screen and never get printed. In 2024 one of my goals is to make it an easy choice for my couples to order a wedding album and add it to their packages. 

Before digital photography, the way couples received their wedding photos was through physical, printed copies. Things have changed quite a bit in the last couple of decades! Online galleries allow us to download, print, and share images with a click. Instead of storing photos in a shoebox, we can keep thousands of images in the palm of our hands! It’s amazing and convenient – but does it replace the need for physical copies of our photos? I don’t think so.

As a wedding photographer, I fully believe you should order a wedding album and prints of your favorite photos. I love the convenience of delivering full wedding galleries of photos through my online gallery. However, I also want my clients to hold, display, and enjoy their favorite photos in a physical, printed copy. 

In this post, I’m sharing the top 5 reasons why you should order a wedding album after your wedding and why album creation is a service I offer to my clients! 

#1 Albums allow you to fully experience and enjoy your favorite wedding photos yourselves! 

I know my couples are always so excited to receive their final wedding or elopement gallery and to scroll through it. However, there’s something special about flipping through a physical wedding album with the photos that tell the story of your wedding day. While photos do look beautiful on a phone or computer screen, nothing compares to being able to touch and hold an album with your photos. 

You and your partner put in so much time and energy to plan your wedding day and to hire a professional photographer in the first place. Why not invest in being able to enjoy your wedding photos in person by ordering an album?

In 2024, I’m making it an easy option for my couples to order their wedding album through me by adding it on to their package! 

#2 It’s a physical backup of your wedding photos. 

By now we’ve all had an annoying experience with technology where something has broken and we’ve lost information. Maybe that’s a broken phone where you’ve lost all your contacts, photos, and whatever else was on that device. It could be a hard drive or a computer that crashed. Maybe you no longer remember your MySpace password from 2006 to view all of those old albums (I can’t be the only one right?!) etc. You get the idea!  

I always recommend backing up your photos on TWO devices if possible with Google Drive or iCloud storage. I have nothing against using a hard drive, but when I think of how things like floppy disks, CDs, and USBs are seemingly being phased out, I wonder how future-proof it is. 

By ordering a wedding album and prints of your photos, you’ll have physical copies to keep for the long term!

#3 A wedding album is a family heirloom. 

When most of us were kids, we likely flipped through physical photo albums that our parents or other family members had. Now we have SO many photos on our phones. How many of those photos with special memories and loved ones ever get printed? 

What will you pass down to your future generations? You probably won’t be passing your computer or your phone down, but you can absolutely pass down your wedding album! Plus, it’s something that loved ones would want. Imagine how cool it will be to know your album will be a family heirloom that loved ones will flip through for years to come!

The albums that I create and deliver to my clients are created to last years and years and YEARS with proper care. 

#4 Make your own album v.s. Your photographer makes your album

Yes, you TOTALLY can make your own wedding album! Several online programs make it easy to create and order a wedding album. However, there are a few issues that I have with this. 99% of the time (I made that up, but it’s often) this is something that gets put off. Life gets busy, and you never end up taking the time to go through your photos and organize them into an album. Secondly, the quality of these products simply doesn’t compare to a professional lab’s handcrafted products.

Creating a beautiful album is more than just picking your favorite photos and dropping them on a page. If you work with your photographer to create your album, they will be able to arrange and design the album in a way that beautifully showcases the story of your day. Plus, it’ll save you HOURS of work! 

My couple selects their favorite photos and I take care of the rest. Once you approve the album design, I send it off to be made!

#5 A wedding album is a perfect gift for loved ones.

Wedding albums and printed photos are truly the best and easiest gift a newly married couple can give to loved ones! In addition to the high-quality albums I offer for couples, I have multiple album options that are the perfect gifts. My favorite is a mini-sized version of your album made from leftover material that you can gift to parents, grandparents, or whoever you’d like! When couples order their wedding album through me this is something I always talk to them about. 

Your wedding day is a major milestone in your relationship together and a wedding album is a physical display of that. I promise you’ll be so happy you ordered one!
