The photos say it all for this surprise proposal at Valley of Fire outside of Las Vegas! Zach and Jen have been together for 3 years, and Zach knew their trip to Vegas was the perfect opportunity to propose.
Zach reached out to me to help plan his proposal, and he was so excited and nervous! He knew Jen had always wanted to do a photo session with a professional photographer, so booking a session wouldn’t be suspicious to her. Zach chose Valley of Fire as the location and we set the plan in motion!
Valley of Fire is one of my favorite locations to photograph at! It’s an hour from Las Vegas, but is totally worth the drive for the stunning red rock scenery. Once the session started, we started with some basic prompts to get warmed-up. A few minutes into the session, I gave a specific prompt so that Zach would know it was time to get down on his knee and Jen would already be facing away. When Jen turned around, well the photos say it all! She was so surprised in the best way!
After Jen said yes, they took a few moments to hug and soak it in! Then the session turned into an engagement session. Halfway through photos, we changed locations to add variety to their photos by changing the backdrop to the creamy white rocks and changing their outfits.
I loved hanging out with these two cuties and cannot congratulate them enough on getting engaged!
Along with being the wedding capital, Las Vegas is also a popular place to propose! Here are things to consider if you’re planning a proposal in Las Vegas.
Location: Where do you want to propose?
Are you thinking of proposing at one of the many gorgeous hotels like Paris or the Bellagio? Or does an outdoor location like Valley of Fire or Seven Magic Mountains seem more ideal? Are you wanting a private feel to your proposal or are you open to being in a spot where tourists could be watching? The location requires some thought!
Hiring a Photographer: Hidden Photographer or Planned Photo session
Is this a secret proposal where you want your photographer hidden? Or would booking a photo session that turns into a proposal be possible? I’ve photographed proposals that happen during a session. I’ve also hidden away to discreetly take photos of a proposal. It’s up to you and what you think will work best for you and your partner!
Those are just a few things to think about from a photographer’s perspective. When someone books me as their proposal photographer, I help with planning the details like nailing down the location, timing, and the logistics of pulling it off! Proposals take intentional planning and can be nerve wracking, but it’s always so worth it to capture your partner’s reaction and such an exciting moment in your relationship!
