3 Tips For Your Engagement Session

#1. Make it a Date Night

You’re already dressed up for your engagement session, so might as well take advantage of it and make it a full date night! You can make dinner reservations at your favorite restaurant or try out a new place you’ve been eyeing. If movie dates are your thing, pick out a movie and buy tickets for the show that evening! Beyond your engagement session, it gives you both something to look forward to once the session is wrapped! Successfully completing engagement photos is totally worth a date night out!

#2. Book Hair & Makeup Appointment

If you’re nervous about doing your own hair and makeup for your engagement session, book an appointment to get it professionally done! Having a professional hair and makeup artist take care of your engagement session look can take away the stress of perfecting it yourself!  

Bonus Tip: Schedule a Same Day Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial

If you’re going for a similar look for your wedding day, then schedule your wedding trial for the day of your engagement session! If your wedding look is a totally different vibe than your engagement session look, you can still book an appointment with a hair and makeup artist! It’s a great opportunity to get to know your vendor before the wedding day and to be taken care of by a professional!

#3. Include an activity into your engagement session

It’s always fun to include an activity you and your partner enjoy into your engagement session. Do you have any hobbies or shared interests that are important to your relationship? Could we include those in your session? Engagement photos should be a reflection of your lives together as a couple. Including a favorite activity further tells the story of your relationship.

Here are a few examples:

• Bring out the guitars and serenade one another (for the musically inclined couples)!
• Crack some cold ones or pop a bottle of champagne. Love this option for a celebratory cheers to end the session! 
• Make a stop at a coffee shop or bar that is important to your relationship.

For Sarah and Eric’s engagement session, they did acro yoga together! Also, they summited most of the Spring Mountain peaks together, so the mountain range is in the background of their engagement photos!

Bonus Tip: It’s always fun to include your pups in your engagement session!

If involving your dogs is a priority, it’s so helpful if you have a friend or family member available to help. They can hold/walk the dogs for non-pet photos or to take them home after their part in photos is done.
