I'm an elopement and wedding photographer based in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Meet Katelyn

As a Las Vegas Elopement Photographer, I have a unique perspective on helping couples know how to choose your wedding photographer. And I want to give you a few pointers to help the process!

When it’s your first time hiring a photographer, it’s a liitttlllee overwhelming and everything starts to look the same. *insert eye spinning emoji here* But you don’t want to just hire the first person you met, because this is a BIG DEAL DAY, and you want the memories you have to look back on to make you feel how you felt at your wedding.

I want you to be hit with nostalgia every time you open your phone, and one of your wedding photos is the lock screen. I want your grandparents to flip through your wedding album and get those teary eyes watching everything back. These are photos that will make you emotional throughout the years of your life. What I’m trying to say is: these moments matter. So let’s help you find the best fit for your wedding photos.

Here are some things to consider when thinking about How to Choose Your Wedding Photographer:

Look at Their Editing & Shooting Style:

When you look at their photos, can you see yourself in the photos? There are a wide range of editing styles! And the style of images you see posted online will be aligned with YOUR final gallery. So think through: do you want more true to life colors? Something more stylized? AKA: dark/moody or light/airy.

PRO TIP? Look at skin tones and greens. Do you like the way that these are edited? If they have a full gallery of a wedding they shot at a similar venue, even better.

Vet Them:

Start with the basics! Review their portfolio. And we aren’t just talking website and Instagram. While I LOOOVE a good IG feed… you need to see more examples. That’s a highlight reel. Ask for some full gallery examples. Read reviews from past couples on Google. Make sure they’re able to answer any questions that you have. It’s also a really good idea to hop on a phone call with your top few choices to see who you vibe with; which leads us to our next point…

Personality Fit + Communication Style:

Want the honest truth? You’re hanging out with your photographer all day! Literally… we are by your side when you’re getting ready… that quiet first look… about to walk down the aisle… fixing the train on your dress… dancing your butt off… alllll day. We spend more time with you than any other vendor, so pay attention to how you communicate when chatting with photogs. This will help you choose your wedding photographer. Does it feel good? Do you ViBe? Is it effortless? You want to feel supported AND understood by your vendors.

The truth is, pretty much every professional out there is going to want you to have an AMAZING experience. They are rooting for you to find a perfect fit! Don’t be shy about asking for what you want, doing the proper vetting and taking your time getting to know the photogs on your list. Choosing your wedding photographer is a big deal, but I’m here to help with anything you need. Don’t hesitate to email me if you have questions or just want help!
