When Emily saw photos of an engagement session at Valley of Fire, she knew she and Travis had to do their engagement photos here! Their outfits, their chemistry together, and the red sandstone landscape was the perfect backdrop for these two.
Travis and Emily had known of each other for 5 years and had mutual friends before they actually started talking. It all started in 2020 when Travis sent Emily a message on Instagram. Now here they are in 2023 taking engagement photos and planning their wedding! Together these two love healthy living, hiking, and being outdoors.
Driving an hour north of Las Vegas will take you to the red rock formations and slot canyons of Valley of Fire which is a Nevada State Park. A photo permit is required for sessions here, so that’s important to note for photographers. I hold an annual permit here, so I’m ready to go whenever someone wants to do a session here! You can find more photo permit details here!
If you’re thinking of using Valley of Fire for engagement photos then spring and fall are definitely the prime seasons due to the temperatures! Valley of Fire is all open desert, so it’s best to avoid photos here during the summer due to heat. No one wants to be a sweaty mess for their engagement photos. 🙂
Both sunrise and sunset times are gorgeous at Valley of Fire! For Jenny and Joe’s engagement photos at Valley of Fire, we did a sunrise session and had the park all to ourselves! You can see their blog here!
I’ll be using Emily and Travis’ engagement session outfits as recommendations for future couples planning their engagement photos or even eloping! For their first outfit, Emily wore a stunning red dress and Travis was in all white. One thing I loved about Emily’s red dress as a photographer, was that it easily added in natural movement to their photos. Simply holding the dress out or swaying it around changed up their photos.
Their second outfit took things to the next level! Of course these are engagement photos for Emily and Travis, BUT if you want an idea of what eloping at Valley of Fire could look like, their photos show you! Neutral cream and white colors look stunning at Valley of Fire!
Emily and Travis left kind review about their experience working with me:
“Amazing!! Katelyn was so easy to work with from the get go. She was quick at responding to my emails and we loved the photos! Highly recommend!” -Emily & Travis
Emily and Travis are such an amazing couple and I can’t get over the photos we created!
