Megan and Cody’s small wedding at The Grand Canyon was an amazing day! This is a wedding that I second shot for my friend Amber Garrett. When she told me it was going to be a Lord of the Rings themed wedding I was SO Excited and knew Megan and Cody would be so fun to be around!
Megan & Cody started off their wedding day with a picnic with all their friends and family! I love how they all got to hang out together before the wedding festivities began. After the picnic, everyone went to get ready for the ceremony!
After getting ready Megan and Cody did a first touch, instead of a first look. Beneath the shade of a huge tree, they read letters they wrote to each other. Next, it was time for their ceremony. Their guests all stood and formed a circle around them as they said their vows to one another. They even planted a tree together during the ceremony.
Then it was time for wedding photos of just Megan and Cody! The sun was perfect and we got amazing sunset portraits of them with the beautiful views of the Grand Canyon as the backdrop. We walked around to a few different spots for their photos along the rim of the Grand Canyon before heading back to celebrate with their guests. It’s hard to describe how massive and breathtaking the Grand Canyon is, and pictures come close, but still don’t do it justice.
If you’re thinking of getting married at the Grand Canyon, a photography permit and/or a special use permit is required regardless of the size of your wedding. The park requires a minimum of 4 weeks to process a permit, so even if you’re eloping in the Grand Canyon planning ahead is key! Thankfully there are several outside locations along the South Rim that the Grand Canyon has available for wedding ceremonies!
