Amy and Alissa’s Las Vegas Wedding at The Doyle was a day full of love and happiness! These two had so many unique details they incorporated into their day such as 1,000 paper cranes, huge paper flowers, and their fun rainbow-colored shoes!
On the morning of their wedding, Amy and Alissa did their hair and makeup together. They hung out with each other and friends until it was time to put on their dresses. Then they got dressed separately right before doing their first look. Both Amy and Alissa chose dresses on their own but ended up going with wedding dresses with a similar fit yet unique to their own style.
One of their main wedding decorations was paper cranes. Amy and Alyssa folded 1000 paper cranes total and folded the 1001st one together during their wedding ceremony. These paper cranes were used to decorate throughout the venue and were also part of their ceremony backdrop.
It’s a Japanese legend that whoever folds one thousand paper cranes will be granted a wish by the gods. This wedding tradition called “Senbazuru,” has been adopted by Japanese Americans. According to this article by Lisa Shea, “The time and energy put into the thousand hand-folded origami cranes symbolizes the patience and trust necessary to sustain a happy marriage.”
A few other details I loved from their wedding were their floral bouquets and standing flowers at their reception made out of paper from Rock Paper Bloom. Such a cool idea for sustainable wedding flowers! The flowers at their reception blew me away because they were massive, yet gorgeous!
On each reception table, they had picture frames with photos and information about adoptable dogs. Each frame included a QR code that would take guests to more information.
During their reception, Amy and Alissa did a “photo rush”. The DJ plays a song, like a Mission Impossible type of song, and the “goal” is for the couple to get a photo with every table before the song ends. A photo rush is a great way to make sure you get a photo with every guest and to get everyone involved in your reception!
The Doyle was built in 1949 and is a warehouse-turned wedding venue in downtown Las Vegas. It’s a beautiful and unique venue with incredible indoor and outdoor spaces. Plus, The Doyle is home to Alpacas that you and your guests can feed (it takes some bribing with treats)!
