I'm an elopement and wedding photographer based in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Meet Katelyn

I’m a big believer that your big day should be exactly what you want it to be. I LOVE weddings, I’m a wedding photographer, after all! However, I’m also a big fan of intimate elopements. There’s something about a couple doing what is best for them and eloping, regardless of outside opinions, and just enjoying each other’s company. If you’re wondering if you should elope or not, here are only 5 of the MANY reasons an elopement might be for you!

1. You Will Save Money

It’s no secret that weddings are expensive! A quick Google search tells me that in 2021, the average cost of a wedding is $22,000, and it varies greatly depending on state. That could be a down payment on your first home together. That could be the vacation of your DREAMS. Less mouths to feed, less tables to decorate, less venue space needed, the list of where you’ll be saving money goes on and on!

2. It’s Way Less Stressful To Plan

Remember reason #1 about saving money? There’s also plenty less decisions to make! I hear from SO many couples that not far into the wedding planning process, they either wished they’d eloped, or decided to elope instead. You don’t realize how many tiny things that you have to decide on until you’re in the thick of it. With more steps to plan, more room is left for disagreements, family member opinions, and miscommunications. Planning an elopement still requires decisions being made, but way less.

3. You Can Focus On What’s Important

Going to bring up family opinions again – this is a HUGE theme for couples planning their weddings. Parents love to get involved, they’re excited for you! However, this can lead to feeling like your big day isn’t about you at all. It turns into how to make sure everyone else has a great time and is happy. By eloping, you are making decisions based off of the opinions of only two people: you and your partner. You can go wherever the heck you want, invite as few people as you want, and plan the day however you want.

4. It’s Environmentally Friendlier

Weddings produce a lot of waste. Holy moly. I did my research for this blog, and those numbers actually surprised me. The average wedding (100-130 guests) produces… wait for it… 400-600 lbs of garbage, and 63 tons of CO2. But after thinking about the amount of food waste, disposable decor, florals, it all does add up! If you’re wanting to do your part to reduce your personal carbon footprint, eloping is the way to go.

5. You Simply Want To

You want to elope. Wedding planning doesn’t sound like your jam. That’s all the reason you need, because it’s your day.
