Should You Add Film to Your Package? | Las Vegas Wedding Photographer

So you wanna know… should You Add Film to Your Package?

You’ve probably seen those dreamy, nostalgic wedding photos floating around. All grainy in all the right ways. They’re rich in tone, and full of emotion that feels, well,  real. That’s film photography.

And if you’ve ever wondered whether it’s worth include film to your big day coverage, let’s talk about it.

Why Film Feels So Different

Steven Spielberg once said, “Digital photography is a science, but film photography is a chemical miracle.” And honestly, that sums it up perfectly. Digital is fast, flexible, and beautifully crisp. But film? Film has soul. Each image is a tangible piece of art, a one-of-a-kind blend of light, chemistry, and timing that can’t be replicated. No big editing or production; a true documentary approach.

When I shoot on film, we slow down. Intentionally. There are only 36 shots per roll, which means every frame is carefully composed, every moment thoughtfully chosen. It’s not about rushing to get as many photos as possible; it’s about creating something timeless that captures how you feel in this moment, right here.

You’ll notice the difference right away. Film tones are softer and more organic, with a nostalgic warmth that feels like flipping through an old family album. But with a modern edge. It’s like seeing yourself in a time capsule, but in the present moment.

What to Expect When You Add Film to Your Package

When you choose this add-on with me, you’re adding an experience. We’ll pause a little more often to capture both film and digital versions of your favorite moments. That includes your getting ready moments, your first kiss, that “just married” glow. It’s a rhythm that feels slower in the best way possible.

Film is beautifully unpredictable, too. The colors, grain, and light shifts all depend on factors like the film stock, lighting, and even the weather. It’s part of the charm, in my opinion, as a Las Vegas wedding photographer. Those tiny imperfections are what make the images feel so alive.

And yes, it’s a delicate process! Film can be affected by everything from X-ray scanners at the airport to lab errors or manufacturer quirks. While I take every precaution to keep your images safe, film truly is a medium of trust and magic.

The Extras: Polaroids + Super 8mm

In addition to 35mm film, I also offer Polaroids and Super 8mm video. Polaroids are the ultimate keepsake. Instant, vintage, and tangible. You’ll walk away with physical prints right after your session, complete with that retro texture everyone loves. They’re perfect for hanging on your fridge or framing over your nightstand.

Super 8mm, on the other hand, brings motion to the magic. It’s a cinematic highlight reel that feels straight out of a 70s love story. Video that is a little grainy and full of heart. And will put you smack back in the feels to watch back year after year.

So… Should You Add Film to your Package?

If you value slow intentionality, and present living… then I think you’ll enjoy having film included in your coverage.

If you like the look of the images and love the nostalgia, the answer is definitely yes. Film invites you to slow down, savor each moment, and embrace the beauty of imperfection. It’s not about quantity, it’s about art.

Plus, you don’t have to worry if any photography editing might “go out of style”, because film is simply transcendent of time. Which is why you can flip through your grandparents photo albums, and still be transported right back to their day.

Adding film to your package is saying: let’s make this timeless.
